1.What is MCC's X-FON?

MCC's X-FON is phone and broadband service designed to provide clear phone and Internet access with maximum connection speeds. Data is transferred over our state-of-the-art fiber-optic network, by laser generated light pulses through glass strands of cable. X-FON provides the fastest Internet speeds available, and a virtually unlimited capacity to carry large files, such as movies, music, leading-edge games and photographs - as well as medical images and multimedia programming for distance learning and telecommuting. Additionally, a modem is no longer needed to access the Internet. After your home has been "cut-over" to X-FON, plug your PC into your Ethernet jack and you're ready to go!

2. How fast is MCC's X-FON Internet Service?

X-FON has the capability to provide Ethernet-type speeds and services to your home. Download speeds (the speed that data is transmitted to your computer) and upload speeds that make X-FON worthy of being called future proof. X-FON is the technology that will meet the needs of today and the foreseeable future. The connection speeds are between your location and MCC's central office. Actual download and upload speeds will vary based on numerous factors, such as the condition of wiring at your location, computer configuration, congestion on the Internet, and the speed of website servers you access, among other factors. Speed and uninterrupted use of the service are not guaranteed.

3. Can I get X-FON?

We have plans to make fiber available to every residence and business within the Molalla city limits. See if X-FON is available at your location at the Can I get It? page.

1. Will my fax machine and current phone features work with MCC's X-FON Service?

Typically, your fax machine and current phone features will work just as they do today. Certain telephones, answering machines and other telephone equipment not meeting industry standards may not work with service provided on the fiber network. The fiber will not affect Caller ID, Voice Mail, or other features like Call Waiting.

2. I am already an MCC Broadband user. Can I keep my molalla.net email address?

Yes. You can keep your same email address when you upgrade to X-FON Internet Service. Your current account information will migrate to your new X-FON account.

1. Is X-FON phone and Internet Service available in my neighborhood?

We have plans to make fiber available to every residence and business within the Molalla city limits. Call the MCC Business office to ask if your home is eligible for Fiber.

2. They Installed fiber in front of my house recently. When will I be able to get X-FON Service?

Call us! Or go to Can I get it? and enter your address to see if you can get X-FON! Installing fiber in your neighborhood is just one step in bringing you the latest in broadband technology. In addition to laying fiber in your neighborhood, we need to install an Optical Network Terminal (ONT) on the outside of your home, and connect the ONT to a power unit. The ONT is what converts the light into digital data for your computer and it needs power to do so. The power unit will also be installed and will supply telephone service in case of a power outage. If MCC has installed fiber in your neighborhood, call the MCC business office to make an appointment to have the ONT installed.

3. MCC's X-FON is being installed in my neighborhood. Should I be concerned about the state of my yard or other wires they may be digging near?

Part of bringing you fiber-optic technology and the power of X-FON is installing the fiber lines in your community. We make every attempt to do this with minimal impact to your property and do work within the public easements as required.
